Jooyeon Ka is a South Korean pianist based between Berlin and Seoul. Her natural musicality is expressed through a refined, nuanced, and deeply personal musical language. She is the winner of the 65th Premio Jaén International Piano Competition in Spain, the Troisdorf International Piano Competition in Germany, and the New York International Piano Competition in the USA. She was also awarded First Prize at the G. Henle Verlag Piano Competition and First Prize at the Chopin Piano Competition Korea. In 2026, she received the International ZF-Musikpreis in Germany. Her concert activities have taken her to concert halls, festivals, and concert series across Europe and Asia, with performances in Korea, Japan, Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and France. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras including the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra and the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, and has appeared at venues such as the Seoul Arts Center, Graf-Zeppelin-Haus in Friedrichshafen, and Mozarthaus Vienna. She began playing the piano at the age of five and studied with Eunjoo Heo and Minja Shin before continuing her studies with Ian Yungwook Yoo at Yonsei University, where she completed her bachelor's degree. She subsequently studied with Jacques Rouvier at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, completing both her Master's degree and Postgraduate studies with the highest distinction. She was then admitted to the Konzertexamen at the Universität der Künste Berlin with top marks, where she currently studies with Björn Lehmann. Jooyeon Ka has appeared on Radio Classic, a channel of the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), and received the Korean Minister of Culture's Award in 2020. In 2023, at the invitation of the Internationale Stiftung Mozarteum, she performed on the fortepiano played by Mozart at his residence in Salzburg. In 2024, she recorded works by Schumann, Chopin, and Debussy for the Naxos label. At the heart of her artistry lies a sincere and profound exploration of music as a reflection of life, humanity, and philosophy. Through her performances and international artistic activities, she seeks to share this perspective with audiences around the world.
